DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The ThunderBirds won their second game in franchise history last Thursday and on Tuesday, the team celebrated another arenafootball2 Player of the Week honor when QB Matt Bohnet was named the af2 Schutt Offensive Player of the Week.  This award recognizes the best performance by an offensive player from the previous week’s action.  Bohnet is the second ThunderBirds player to be honored in the last two weeks joining DB Jocques Richardson who won the ADT Defensive Player of the Week award last week.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The ThunderBirds won their first game in franchise history on Sunday and on Tuesday, the team celebrated another milestone.  Jocques Richardson, a defensive back out of football powerhouse Miami Northwestern High School was awarded the arenafootball2 ADT Defensive Player of the Week.  This award recognizes the best performance by a defensive player from the previous week’s action.  Richardson is the first player in ThunderBirds history to be given a player of the week award.  Richardson had four tackles and two interceptions including a 50 yard interception return for a touchdown on the final play of the game to secure a 56-42 victory for the ThunderBirds over the Manchester Wolves.  For the season, Richardson leads the team with 20.5 tackles and three interceptions.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – The Daytona Beach ThunderBirds upgraded their offensive line this week having been assigned two new players, Brian Ross and Tellis Rodgers, by the arenafootball2 League Office.  Both have been slated to move into the starting Guard and Tight End spots.

DAYTONA BEACH – The Daytona Beach ThunderBirds were very excited to introduce the “FLEX 5” season ticket package this week. This package allows you to pick five (5) of the eight (8) home games to come out and support the ThunderBirds for only $50.00 for adults and $25.00 for children 15 and under. All “FLEX 5” seats are in the lower bowl providing patrons with great seat selection. Single games tickets for this season in the lower bowl will cost $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 15 and under, and upper bowl seats are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 15 and under.  “Jack” out of the Box among several AFL rule changes adopted by af2

CHICAGO – The arenafootball2 league (af2) has agreed to implement several rule changes that were approved by the Arena Football League’s Board of Directors. The changes will take effect for the 2008 af2 season.

The most notable change will be the ability for the “Jack” linebacker to roam from sideboard to sideboard within five yards of the line of scrimmage once a play begins. In the past, the “Box Rule” prohibited the “Jack” linebacker from leaving an imaginary box behind the line of scrimmage until the ball was thrown by the quarterback. Rules governing “Mac” linebackers were unchanged.

 SIRIUS will broadcast multiple AFL games each week of the regular season, featuring the league’s top match-ups, and all 11 playoff games live, culminating with ArenaBowl XXII on Sunday, July 27 in New Orleans. All games will air on SIRIUS channel 130.
